  • Sea creature`s shell

    Hi,

this is olny a quick play with the Vray displacement modifier on a poly object, using the VrayComptexture to combine procedural maps. I think the result turned out to be interesting. Looks like some sea creature`s shell.

    Cheers

It certainly looks interesting Now you can try adding some SSS to it...

                    Hi All!

Thanks for the comments! If anyone is interested, I`ll upload the scene tomorrow.

About the settings: RC3+MAX8, 1 poly object+displacement, 1 vraylight, a very poor quality irrad map+QMC. Nothing fancy really, even the reflections were turned off.
I used the Zdepth element to do the post DOF in Photoshop and added another layer for some extra glow.

I`ll go for the SSS as soon as I have some spare time (though I originally didn`t want to use it but now I`m getting curious)

                    Regards

                    G

                        scene, scene, scene, scene, scene
                        hehehe that would be awesome

                        Wicked renders, really interesting.

How much of it was the original poly model and how much is the displacement? Like is it just the smaller details thats disp or are all the tentacle thingys disp as well.
I guess we will find out tomorrow but curious as heck now.

I really like the lighting and look of the images.
Though I am anxious to see SSS, I don't think its good for this image.

                          10 points.

                            Download

                            Hi,

I uploaded the max file file, but don`t expect anything, it`s really really simple:
                            http://pixelimage.net/ftp/ftp/PixelF...ics/SPIRAL.rar

The render of the SSS version has just crashed after a couple of hours, so I`m gonna upload it only tomorrow.

                            Cheers
